Garden Therapy Consultation - Germany
There is a clear trend in Germany that Garden Therapy is recognised by institutions and organisation at a closer level to Art, Music and other complimentary therapies than is the case in Australia. There is also a system of Coaching that is allowing the practice to spread throughout Europe and diverse healthcare contexts.
These images demonstrate the diversity and often simplicity of ways to bring gardens, Nature and creative activities connected to plants and the natural world to people of all ages, cultures and abilities. It was a pleasure creating plant-enhanced soap with Adults with Special Needs and having a gorgeous afternoon tea (focused on Peppermint) with Aged Care residents as part of their Garden Club. The enthusiasm and clear enjoyment of such activities as part of every day social connection and engagement were evident within every smile and extra cup of tea and cookie tasted. Thank you so much for letting me be part of these activities!

A curated corner that offers a sheltered spot for being outside, regardless of season.
Making soaps with natural plant ingredients and essential oils. These could be kept by participants of sold at future events such as the Christmas Market.

Clay tiles as part of a decorated screen for climbing plants, also used as plant labels.
A beautifully laid out spread for "kaffe und kuchen" (afternoon tea, and in this case, very much tea indeed - peppermint in fact). Thoroughly enjoyed and tasted activity by Garden Club participants of this residential Aged Care Home.
